A redesign of key surfaces of the Uniswap decentralized exchange, focused on the swap interface, token detail pages, and liquidity management. The goal was to make the platform accessible to a broader audience without alienating the DeFi power users who drove the majority of volume.

Overview

Uniswap is the world's largest decentralized exchange — enabling anyone to swap tokens, provide liquidity, and participate in the DeFi ecosystem without a centralized intermediary. It processes billions of dollars in weekly volume and is used by millions of people globally.

The design challenge was significant: the existing interface was built primarily for DeFi power users, but Uniswap's strategic direction required making the platform accessible to a much broader audience — without alienating the sophisticated users who drove the majority of volume.

Scope

My engagement focused on key flows in the desktop web experience:

  • The primary swap interface — the highest-traffic surface on the platform
  • Token detail pages — giving users the context to make informed trading decisions
  • Liquidity management — helping LPs understand their positions and yields

Outcome

The redesigned surfaces improved task completion rates for first-time users while maintaining the speed and control that power users expected.
