Overview
I spent 8 months leading Product Design and Integration of the Product Studio Lab — planning the UX, Visual Design, and integration of a new internal portal that helps our customers manage their employees' retirement investments. A complete rewrite, approved as greenfield, let Design and Engineering move fast and ship ahead of schedule.
Who is it for?
The users of Planned Sponsor Online are HR professionals at major colleges and non-profits. These staff members use PSO to administrate and manage their employees' retirement investments — so the tool has to make dense, high-stakes financial data feel calm and controllable.
Before → After
The legacy tool buried the people who run it under cramped tables and decade-old patterns. The redesign rebuilt the experience around the task, not the database.
The legacy tool
Legacy reporting
Dense, unfiltered tables with no clear entry point or hierarchy.
Legacy plan summary
Critical account metrics scattered across a cluttered, dated UI.
The redesigned portal — account metrics, participant data, and filters consolidated into one calm, task-first dashboard.
